About

Medical Billing Info was built as a single, free destination for the medical billing and coding world — clear explanations of the billing process, specialty coding guidance, EHR/EMR context, and a job board connecting healthcare employers with billing and coding talent, including remote roles.

Our Motivation

Medical billing and coding is one of the most quietly essential functions in healthcare — get it right, and providers get paid fairly and patients get accurate bills; get it wrong, and everyone from a small practice to a patient’s household budget feels it. Yet reliable, practical information on this field is scattered across paywalled courses, dense payer manuals, and forum threads. We started this site because we believe the people doing this work — and the students trying to break into it — deserve a single, free, honest place to learn it well.

Who This Site Is For

  • Medical billers and coders looking for a clear, no-paywall reference.
  • Students and career-changers studying for certification exams.
  • Healthcare practices and hospitals hiring billing, coding, and RCM talent.
  • Remote job seekers specializing in medical billing, coding, or health information management.

Our Vision

We want Medical Billing Info to grow into the most trusted free hub connecting everyone touched by the billing and coding process: coders and billers sharpening their skills, students working toward certification, practices and hospitals trying to hire well, and ultimately the patients whose bills depend on all of it being done right. Our long-term goal isn’t just to explain the rules — it’s to make the entire revenue cycle easier to understand and navigate for every stakeholder in it.

Our Approach

Where We’re Headed: Our Roadmap

This site will keep growing based on what actually helps the community. Here’s what we’re working toward:

  • Deeper specialty coding libraries — expanding beyond our current specialty guides with more detailed code sets, real-world coding scenarios, and payer-specific quirks.
  • A community Q&A / forum — a place for coders, billers, and students to ask questions and learn from each other, not just from us.
  • Structured, self-paced training tracks — building on our free training manuals with more courses, practice exams, and progress tracking toward certification readiness.
  • Regulatory & payer update alerts — timely summaries when CMS, ICD-10-CM, CPT, or major payer policies change, so practices and coders aren’t caught off guard.
  • A stronger jobs & hiring platform — better matching between healthcare employers and billing/coding talent, including more remote and entry-level opportunities.
  • Practice & small-business resources — templates, checklists, and guidance aimed at solo practices and small billing companies that don’t have a dedicated compliance team.
  • A patient-facing guide — a plain-language resource to help patients understand their EOBs, medical bills, and billing rights, since they’re the ultimate stakeholder in getting this process right.
  • Mentorship & career guidance — connecting newer coders and billers with experienced professionals in the field.

We’re building this roadmap with input from the people who use the site every day. If there’s something that would make your work — or your job search, or your practice, or your understanding of your own medical bills — easier, we want to hear about it.

Content on this site is written to be practical and evergreen, and we link out to authoritative primary sources (CMS, CDC, AAPC, AHIMA) rather than restating regulations that change year to year. If you spot something outdated, we want to know — reach out via the contact page.
